Solico Metal supports major civic project at Belmont Fieldhouse and Library

Solico Metal, a Cenmax Group company, is providing structural steel fabrication for the Belmont Fieldhouse and Library in southwest Calgary, a City of Calgary facility that combines indoor recreation with a new Calgary Public Library branch.

The project

The facility pairs a fieldhouse of about 118,000 square feet, with a multi-sport artificial turf field, viewing areas and dressing rooms, with a 10,000-square-foot library that includes a children's area, meeting rooms and outdoor learning space. The City expects it to open in 2027.

Solico's role

Solico is responsible for structural steel fabrication, key connection details and installation coordination, working alongside CANA Group of Companies and Canam Group. The package totals about 1.5 million pounds of steel. Its standout element is a 254-foot clear span with no intermediate supports, which gives the fieldhouse its open playing area.

Community facilities like Belmont are built by many specialized teams working to one plan. Solico is proud to contribute the steel that frames a space Calgarians will use for recreation, learning and gathering for decades.
